About Us

National Forum For People’s Rights is an NGO working in India since 2000 for the noble causes of Human Rights Protection and Promotion, Justice for all, Economic upliftment of the underprivileged, Education, Peace, Harmony and National & International Integration. It is the only organization in India affiliated to the World Human Rights Forum (www.whrf.org ). It is affiliated to the United Nations Global Compact also. It focuses on educating the people about their rights in general and to teach the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to young people everywhere so that they know and insist on their rights and those of others. The Forum teaches human rights both in the classroom and beyond traditional education settings.

We aim to reach people from diverse backgrounds. We believe the great exhortation of Martin Luther King, Jr. to spread and protect the human rights: “Whatever career you may choose for yourself – doctor, lawyer, teacher – let me propose an avocation to be pursued along with it. Become a dedicated fighter for civil rights. Make it a central part of your life. It will make you a better doctor, a better lawyer, a better teacher. It will enrich your spirit as nothing else possibly can…. It will give you that rare sense of nobility that can only spring from love and selflessly helping your fellow man. Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for human rights. You will make a greater person of yourself, a greater nation of your country and a finer world to live in.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

The recent focus is the spread of The Right to Information Act. Forum has conducted detailed study on the Police Reforms, Consumer Issues, etc. A number of seminars, conferences, summits, camps, workshops, and projects have been organized and undertaken to educate and spread awareness of rights & duties. Besides making efforts in educating people of their rights, the Forum has also been encouraging and felicitating various prominent personalities who have done commendable work in the arena of Human Welfare and Protection of Human Rights every year, on the occasion of World Human Rights Day. The Forum has more than 400 chapters in different parts of India. It has organizational committees at Taluk, District, State and National levels
